Meet Dr. Irina Mladenov

Dr. Irina Mladenov has a background in both medicine and economics, having studied at University College London (UCL) before completing her medical degree (MBBS) at Imperial College London.

She has worked across several areas of hospital medicine, including acute medicine, gastroenterology and endocrinology, before later moving into general practice. This broad clinical background shaped her interest in looking beyond isolated symptoms and taking a more comprehensive approach to health.

Alongside conventional medical training, she has pursued further education in functional and longevity medicine, including training through the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine (A4M), with a particular interest in metabolic health, hormone optimisation and preventative care.

Philosophy / Personal Approach

I believe medicine should remain dynamic — grounded in evidence, but always open to deeper understanding. My approach combines conventional medical practice with a broader focus on prevention, physiology and long-term health optimisation.

Over time, I became increasingly interested in why many patients continue to feel unwell despite “normal” investigations, and why medicine often separates systems that are deeply interconnected. This led me to explore a more personalised and integrative approach — looking at how metabolism, hormones, nutrition, stress, recovery and lifestyle interact together rather than viewing symptoms in isolation.

For me, this work is not about chasing trends or applying rigid protocols. It is about understanding the individual sitting in front of you, staying intellectually curious, and recognising that health is rarely one-dimensional.
